10 Tip-Top Property Renovation Hacks for Landlords

When you're a landlord, after a good few tenants set up home on your property, you might find it's time for a little home renovation to spruce things up for the next occupants.

Of course, you'll want to do a decent, thorough job but chances are, you won't want it to bust the bank, especially if you have multiple properties to maintain.

But never fear, our helpful landlord hacks are here to help - you can thank us later…

Put the sheen back into tired tile grout by using a whitening or Tippex pen to make it look fresh and clean.

Lubricate all door hinges and handles with a WD-40-style product to prevent squeaks and stubborn opening mechanisms.

Leather sofa? Use colour appropriate shoe polish to make it look and feel brand new. Just remember to air out the room immediately afterwards.

Replace tired old lampshades with cheap yet room brightening paper lanterns.

Clean up your light fittings with a cloth and polish to give your rooms a general boost; dirty fixings reduce energy efficiency which is one of the things today's tenants care about most.

Half painted walls are all the rage and actually give the impression of higher ceilings - plus you won't have to do as much graft. A win-win-win situation.

If you have unsightly or tired vinyl or laminate floors, add a lick of waterproof paint to breathe new life into them - striped motifs are easy to paint and look good too.

Get a brand new welcome mat for outside the front door - you'll be amazed at the immediate difference it makes.

Transform your boring window roller blinds by covering them with beautiful fabric and attaching it with hot glue.

Refinish worn brickwork, woodwork or metal surfaces with a lick of spray paint.
