Former Home Secretary Priti Patel recently announced that the British government plans to relocate hundreds of civil servant jobs out of London, into Stoke-on-Trent. Home Office workers will move into a new Stoke-on-Trent base, with 160 new jobs up for grabs. The first Home Office workers are set to move into the city centre Two Smithfield office building in Hanley in March with the full 500 jobs to be filled by the end of 2025.
The move by the Government will make the Home Office one of the major city employers. Other major employers in the area include BET365 and the Royal Stoke University Hospital to name a few.
