Rockett Home Rentals gets behind fundraising efforts for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice

Rockett Home Rentals director Bill Rockett presents £200 of Melice Patisserie vouchers to fundraiser Rebecca Painter for her upcoming charity event.

Local business owner Bill Rockett of Rockett Home Rentals and Stoke City player Mamady Sidibe backed the tireless fundraising efforts of charity advocate and Hanley Cineworld cinema employee Rebecca Painter, by donating £200 of Melice Patisserie vouchers to her upcoming head shave and raffle to raise money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice.  The donation came about through a competition that Rockett Home Rentals and Melice ran for Euro 2016.   As Portugal surprised everyone by claiming victory, it left the competition without a winner.  It was then decided that the prize should be donated to Douglas Macmillan Hospice. The competition and the charity have had fantastic support from Stoke City legend Andy Wilkinson who has a proud history of supporting the charity.  Andy was more than happy to give up his time to raise awareness of the event and present the prize.

What started as a small local fundraising drive has now become a much talked about local charity event as a direct result of Rebecca's determination, coupled with the efforts of Bill Rockett and Mamady Sidibe. Rebecca said, 'It's all escalated really quickly from a simple charity head shave to this huge event. I spent a lot of time trying to gain the support of big organisations who on the whole have ignored me, but the response from local businesses like Rockett Home Rentals and Melice has been fantastic, and they've helped me make it happen.’

As a keen supporter of the local community, Bill Rockett is more than happy to help: 'I believe in the tremendous work that Douglas Macmillan do and I'm more than happy to get involved in any way I can; Rebecca has done a great job, and we wish her the very best with the event.'

The Douglas Macmillan event takes place at Cineworld on 21st August and is expected to be a success. You can find out more by visiting the Cineworld Stoke Facebook page.
