We're not sure how it happened, but the festive season has arrived once again. There are always a few smug souls who've finished their Christmas shopping and wrapped up their gifts by the start of December, but for the vast majority of us the pressure is on.
If you're someone who likes to shop in person rather than online and you live in or around The Potteries, our quick-fire Christmas shopping guide is here to help…
intu Potteries Shopping Centre
Standing tall in the heart of Hanley, intu Potteries is possibly the area's most extensive shopping centre with a whole host of top high street retailers and quirky independents under one roof. With modern amenities, intu Potteries is easy to navigate even if you've got a severe case of Christmas shopping stress and once you've grabbed your gifts, the brand new food court is the perfect place to enjoy a well-deserved bite to eat or a festive tipple. To find out more, check out intu Potteries' Xmas gift guide.
Hanley Christmas Market
The festive market is the place where The Potteries meets picture-postcard scenes from the Bavarian Alps. With 35 Austrian-style wooden chalets dotted around Hanley centre, complete with festive decor, Santas, and twinkly lights, a visit to Hanley's Xmas market is sure to make you feel Christmassy. If you're looking for something unique or traditional, these stalls will deliver the goods, and if you're in need of refreshment, you'll be able to pick up a cheeky gluvine or a homemade mince pie while you shop.
Trentham Shopping Village
A little like the Hanley Christmas Market, Trentham Shopping Village sports a quaint alpine feel making it a pleasant place to shop for festive gifts. With anything from retro sweets to rare whiskies and one-of-a-kind mementos, there are all sorts of special items you can pick up from the shopping village. Also, if you’re looking for jaw-dropping Christmas decorations, you can’t beat the resident garden centre. Feeling peckish? Pick up a festive pie from Pieminister; there are plenty to choose from!
Newcastle under Lyme Town Centre
When it comes to Christmas shopping, Newcastle is often overlooked, but there are plenty of hidden gems dotted around town. The likes of Laura Ashley, Next, Boots, and New Look are all available in the centre, but if you're in search of something a little more offbeat, independent boutiques like Gravity or Sparrowhawk Vintage make the perfect options. Also, if you need a break from the December cold, you can always run into Cappello’s and warm up over a mulled wine or speciality coffee.
