Stoke Potteries Museum & Art Gallery (or PMAG) is packed with exhibits that make a great day out for the whole family. Ozzy the Owl will guide you through mountains of intricate goldwork in the Staffordshire Hoard (including a seriously impressive Anglo-Saxon helmet), a weird and wonderful exhibit of 300 frog-themed mugs, and an exhibit on Staffordshire’s wallabies. There’s a whole lot here for kids of all ages to love.
Whatever your area of interest, PMAG has something for you. There are history exhibits stretching from the Stone Age all the way up to World War 2. The Spitfire Gallery, reopening in 2021 with its Mk.XVI Spitfire is a particularly big draw for aviation and history enthusiasts. There are fantastic exhibits on the area’s geology and wildlife, for those interested in natural history. Art lovers are also well catered to, with exhibits on fine art and design work. And let’s not forget PMAG’s impressive potteries! The museum’s ceramics exhibit contains a huge collection of beautifully crafted work, as well as a very informative technical section on pottery techniques.
